Fluorescent light bulbs are modern illumination solutions that use low-pressure mercury vapor and a fluorescent material for coating the inside of the bulbs to produce light – the electric current from the mains excites the mercury vapor that produces the glow. Fluorescent bulbs were invented at the end of the 19th century, but they did not get any special attention until the 1990 – since then, their popularity has been growing steadily as more and more people recognize the great qualities of these modern lighting solutions. Here are some of these advantages:

  • Increased energy efficiency – fluorescent bulbs produce the same amount of light as conventional bulbs, but they use much less energy for the same performance – while conventional bulbs deliver 16 lumens per watt, fluorescent solutions 50-100 lumens on the same amount of energy, and they are preferred by Denver electricians;
  • Longer lifespan – while conventional bulbs live for about 1000 hours, fluorescent bulbs can work for 6000-15000 hours;
  • Less heat – fluorescent bulbs use around 20 percent of the energy for generating light, converting the rest into heat, while conventional bulbs use only 5 percent to produce light;
  • Better light diffusion – rooms illuminated with fluorescent bulbs are brighter than the rooms illuminated with conventional bulbs that can produce only undiffused light.
